A Most Fascinating and Beautiful Place
Venture out from Moab around to the Colorado side of the La Sal Mountains, 14 miles from Utah Highway 191 on Utah Route 46, to discover the untrammeled side of the La Sal Mountains and a lodging company and animal sanctuary engulfed in abundant peace and quiet that defies definition.
It is, all at once, a lodge, rental cabins, a massage therapy center, and an animal sanctuary. A most fascinating and beautiful place indeed.
The Animal Sanctuary and Healing center is a comprehensive center that includes healing for people, animals, and the land. The Animal Sanctuary component is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping injured, special needs, abandoned and unwanted animals. We provide love, shelter, and care for 'all animals under the sun'.
The Animal Sanctuary and Healing center is an integrated center of Healing. We believe in looking at the totality of life. The plants, the animals, the land and the humans are inseparable. What befalls one effects the other. We hold that we are here to learn with all life through the spirit that is manifest upon the earth. We believe that true deep healing arises out of the knowledge of this integration.
All those visiting the center and staying in the lodgings are invited to participate in all or any of the components of the center, be it Shamanic Work, Plant Medicine, Animal Healing through contact, Lomi Lomi Massage, and one on one or group healing.
What sets this Animal Sanctuary apart is our willingness to accept and take care of special needs animals, most of whom would be put to sleep otherwise. In addition to providing homes for neglected and abandoned animals, it also provides homes for some of the more severely handicapped animals that many sanctuaries are just not willing or equipped to deal with.
In caring for these animals we not only give them life but a quality of life that is filled with love. It is amazing and gratifying to watch the spirits and bodies of these animals blossom as the right environment is provided for them. It is equally amazing to witness the healing that these animals, in turn, provide for some of the people that come through the center. These animals often, just by their being and through their stories, open a sense of hope for people. These animals are living examples of thriving against the odds and in this way, can lead injured human souls out of their own despair.
The animals that find their way to this Animal Sanctuary, are nurtured, brought back to health, and in turn put up for adoption if and when possible. The others that are too handicapped or sick to be let out, remain at the sanctuary under close loving care.
Tours and Volunteering: We offer tours and volunteer opportunities to work with the animals at the center. For further information please connect with us before your arrival, or speak with us when you are here. You will love this place!
